NCAAT in Action endorses Allen Buansi for the North Carolina House of Representatives District 56
Representative Allen Buansi is a longtime advocate for historically marginalized groups and has spent years working to support them. Prior to his election to the N.C. House of Representatives, Buansi served on the Chapel Hill Town Council. As a civil rights lawyer, he has a deep understanding of the needs of underserved communities and has brought this experience to office; he has been a vocal opponent of bills harming immigrants and restricting reproductive freedoms. Allen Buansi is a longtime ally of the Asian American community: During his time on the Chapel Hill Town Council, he helped implement language access measures for town services and programs in languages including Burmese, Karen, and Mandarin. As a state representative, he has consistently supported policies that benefit AAPI voters, including measures to protect immigrants’ rights, defense of voting rights, and introducing hate crimes legislation.
