NCAAT in Action endorses Dimple Ajmera for Charlotte City Council At-Large.
Councilmember Dimple Ajmera has been a steady champion for working families in Charlotte since first joining City Council in 2017. The daughter of immigrants, she came to the U.S. at 16, learned English, and worked minimum-wage jobs to put herself through college. She later became a Certified Public Accountant and managed multimillion-dollar budgets before entering public service.
As a member of Charlotte’s City Council, Ajmera has delivered real results: expanding affordable housing, strengthening public safety, and helping thousands of city employees gain access to affordable healthcare. She championed Charlotte’s language access plan and, as Budget Committee Chair, passed a $3.3 billion budget that raised city worker pay without raising taxes.
Ajmera brings compassion, accountability, and a deep understanding of Charlotte’s challenges. As a working mother of two, she stays grounded in the needs of everyday residents — and NCAAT in Action is proud to support her continued leadership on City Council At-Large.
Dimple Ajmera:
“This endorsement from NCAAT in Action is deeply meaningful to me. Our family immigrated to this country when I was young, with big dreams and humble beginnings. I carry those experiences—and my heritage—with me in everything I do. I’m proud to stand alongside NCAAT in Action to uplift Asian American voices and ensure families like mine are seen, heard, and represented at every level of government.”
