Shrikar grew up in North Carolina after immigrating to the United States as a kid. He has extensive legislative and policy experience with the state government, and his current role is with the NC Department of Environmental Quality where he works on variety of issues, including climate change, water quality, and environmental justice.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from NC State University.
